The Director of Finance and Administration will be a member of the mission center’s senior leadership team, reporting to the executive director (ED). The successful candidate will be a hands-on and participative manager and will lead the development of cross-departmental processes to support the following areas: finance, human resources, administration, and IT.
The Director of Finance and Administration will play a critical role as the mission center continues to grow. She or he will ideally have accounting experience in a complex nonprofit with revenue of $1.5M+, with multiple programs and funding sources.

 Accounting & Financial Management
  • Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, and program budgets and actual expenditures.
  • Analyze and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly , quarterly and annual financial statements; collate financial reporting materials for all donor segments.
  • Oversee all financial, project/program and grants accounting.
  • Oversee and lead annual budgeting and planning process in conjunction with the ED; administer and review all financial plans and budgets; monitor progress and changes; and keep senior leadership team abreast of the organization’s financial status.
  • Monitor and approve all employee expense reports.
  • Prepare and file certain necessary tax forms, assists in preparation and research of Form 990.
  • Manage accounts receivable and petty cash.
  • Coordinate all audit activity.
  • Implement a robust financial management/ reporting system; ensure that the financial data and cash flow are steady and support operational requirements.
  • Update and implement all necessary business policies and accounting practices; improve the overall finance policy and procedure manual.
  • Proactively communicate and present the critical financial matters to the board of directors.
Human Resources, Technology and Administration
  • Further develop the mission center’s human resources and administration, compensation and benefits, performance evaluation, training, and recruiting.
  • Establish and manage a training program to educate employees regarding staff tools, policies, and procedures.
  • Work closely and transparently with all external partners including donors, grant makers, vendors, as well as our CPA and audit firms.
  • Oversee administrative functions as well as facilities to ensure efficient and consistent operations as the organization scales.
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and unwavering commitment to the mission center’s mission, vision and values
  • A proactive, hands-on strategic thinker who will own the responsibility for finance
  • Minimum of a BA, ideally with a business or finance degree
  • At least five years of accounting, financial and operations management experience preferred
  • The ideal candidate has experience of final responsibility for the quality and content of all financial data reporting
  • Ability to translate financial concepts to – and to effectively collaborate with -- programmatic and fundraising colleagues who do not necessarily have finance backgrounds
  • A track record in grants management
  • Technology savvy with experience selecting and overseeing software installations and managing relationships with software vendors; knowledge of accounting and reporting software
  • A successful track record in setting priorities; keen analytic, organization and problem solving skills which support and enable sound decision making
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • A multitasker with the ability to wear many hats in a fast-paced environment
We offer medical, vision and dental benefits, 2 weeks vacation + 12 PTO in addition to paid holidays. Salary to commensurate with experience between $51,000 and $58,000.
